Square Number
A number multiplied by itself is called a square. It is also called a square number or perfect square. In the plain text, it is denoted with the ^ (caret) symbol. For example, 2^2, is equal to 2×2 or 4. However, in words, one could say a certain number squared. For instance, 3 squared which is equal to 3×3. Mathematically, the representation becomes even clearer, just raise the second number a little and you are done. For example, 3 squared can be expressed mathematically as 32.
Please note that squaring a number also carries an answer. For example, 3 squared is 9.
Mathematically, 32 = 9.
Cube Number
A number multiplied by itself three times is called a cube. It can also be represented with the ^ (caret) symbol. For example, 4^3, is equal to 4×4×4 or 64. Moreover, in words, one could say a certain number cubed. For instance, 2 cubed, is equal to 2×2×2 or 16.
Mathematically, 4 cubed or 2 cubed can be written as 43and 23 respectively. The cube can be calculated by multiplying the number by itself three times. For example 43 = 4×4×4 = 64 .
Quad Number
A number multiplied by itself four times is called a quad. Typically, it is written with the ^ (caret) symbol. For example, 2^4, is equal to 2×2×2×2 or 16.
Like square and cube, quad also evaluates to a single digit by multiplying the number by itself four times. For example 22 = 2×2×2×2 = 16 .
